'Super' & 'Gears' for twins!

Hello all,

This weekend my son is going to an AWESOME birthday party for his friends who are twins. These boys have different interests so I decided to make them a special t-shirt and card to go with their birthday gifts. I narrowed it down to a 'gear' shape for the kid who loves all things mechanical and a 'Superman' shape for the kid who is just super to my son and his name starts with an 'S'.

I used flocked HTV from Silhouette purchased through Scrapbooks by Design in Canada, and the paper was from the 'Awesome boy' Recollection Paper Pad

Fathers Day Card!

I created a 'workbench' card yesterday from the Silhouette Store by Lori Whitlock, and my son thought it was cool and was excited to give it to his Dad for Fathers Day!
I shared the card on a few Facebook groups that I belong to which I know no one else can see unless they belong to that particular paper group ... well I made the mistake of also posting the card to Lori Whitlock's Facebook page which I now realize is 'public' ... oooops!
So last night hubby mentions that the card is nice and asks if I made it ... double oooops!

Happy Early Fathers Day James ;-)

Ready Set Go ... !!!

Hello friends

It has been too quiet on my side for a little while and I'm looking forward to jumping back into the action and creating beautiful projects to share with you.

My family and I recently moved into a new home and the last few months have been 'topsy-turvy' - I have been packing/unpacking, purging and sweating!

But it's been worth it ... we are settled into our new home, still boxes to unpack while I find a place for all our possessions - but Oh My Goodness I have my own CRAFT SPACE and I'm over excited!!!

My son is happy with his new room ... always a relief for a parent! Our neighbourhood has less traffic and there are more kids around. We will miss our lovely neighbours but we know where they live! And they sell awesome goodies at their store so I'll be visiting them there too.

I'm deciding on my next few projects ... so look out for me soon.

Until another day,
Vicki :-)

Treat for 'Mr & Mrs'

One of the teachers from my son's class is getting married next week so I put a small treat together for her.
I used a candy box template free from SVGCuts and enlarged it to fit 2 boxes nicely on a 12x12 sheet of pretty card. I've included a few steps on the progress with some photos:

I cut the shapes and started putting the boxes together

I assembled the boxes and put Hershey's Kisses inside

The boxes are finalized with hearts and then tied with brown twine

I enclosed the two boxes in a clear bag and attached a tag

The font used on the tag is Baskerville Italic and was sketched with a Silhouette pen

Thank you for visiting today :-)

Pop up box card

Today I worked on a pop up box card for the first time ... it was quite FUN! I downloaded the Hearts Aflame SVG kit from SVGCuts. I was purchasing another kit and it was FREE with a purchase value of $9.98 until 4 February 2015 ... check out their site for further info. I really like the kit as it offers 5 different cards which are lovely and can be adapted to other occasions like weddings and birthdays, etc.

Anyway back to my box card: Because I really wanted to try this file today, I used what cardstock I had on hand, I mixed red, pink and purple and used some patterned February/Valentines paper ... next time I'll concentrate on sourcing the prettiest paper and cardstock before cutting.

The card and paper was cut using my Silhouette Cameo, and I used Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive.

Mom's vase and rose

Today I've been experimenting with a file from SVGcuts.com as I really love their designs and work. So please have a look at my first (of many, I'm sure) creation from their Mom's garden gifts kit.

I had some pretty flower design (printed both sides) cardstock and used that for the vase. I mixed plain beige cardstock and a distressed cardstock for the rose petals, the plain cardstock worked well with curling the petals. I used green painters tape for the stem and to attach the leaves.

I'm really happy with my first creation from SVGcuts and look forward to creating lots more.

The Grinch - Christmas 2014

Just before Christmas I created this poster for my son's school as they were performing 'How the Grinch stole Christmas' for the school concert.
I used black poster foam board from Michaels, and cut green and white vinyl using my Silhouette Cameo. The font was from DaFont and the image I traced from Google. It was easy to cut and apply and turned out great!
