Simple inspirational wishes!

Hello everyone :-)

Yesterday I managed to get a few minutes on my computer and I made some quick and easy inspirational cards and sleeves (from a seed packet design)!

I used the free Seed Packet design from SVG Cutting files - they offer you some freebies to try before you buy - which is great! I then cut some small cards to go inside them, I used my sketch pens to write some positive words on these cards ...

I'm thinking of leaving these around (without littering!) when I'm out and about and hopefully they'll make someone feel good even if it's just for a split second after the excitement and curiosity of opening it up.

Thanks for visiting today,

Happy crafting,
*Vicki*

Card ... oh card!

Hello everyone!

I love using my die cutting machine for all my projects - especially 3D projects which are awesome! - but I'm struggling a bit with cards ...!

So todays challenge to myself was to make a thank you card for our neighbour who baked my hubby a rhubarb crumble for his birthday and to thank her for making me buy some vanilla bean ice cream to go with it! ;-)

I love the last minute addition of the flower and accessory!

I had an already made card base from Michaels in my stash so I decided to use that - anything to ease myself into cards - and the patterned paper is from the 'South of Market' collection paper pad, Studio Calico (which has some fab patterns).

Thanks for visiting,
*Vicki*

Dirty, Clean or Busy!

Hi everyone!

Often I get asked by my hubby if the dishwasher is dirty or clean* ... some times one day rolls into the next for me and I can't remember if I've stacked it or cleared it so instead of my usual comment of 'I don't know - have a look' I decided to make a dishwasher magnet:

I used the usual Dirty and Clean wording and included the Busy side too as 'someone'* has opened it mid cycle a few times ;-)
I designed the template for the final product, chose some patterns that are standard in the Silhouette software, played around with their size and angle and used a stencil font.

I printed it on glossy paper and printed a few more layers to make it less flimsy and attached 3 flat magnets.

I love the way it turned out and so far it's doing a good job!
{Photos not the greatest as there was too much glare from the dishwasher door}

FYI - Hubby loves it ... phew!

Happy Crafting!!

*At least hubby helps with the dishes - AND I do totally appreciate it*

Daddy's corner!

Hi everyone!

It's my husbands birthday on Friday and I had no idea what to get him for his special forty-something day! He's always 'hogging' the right side of the couch so I decided to make him his own cushion (cover) to mark his spot :-).

A few of my crafty friends in Canada suggested a cushion cover from Ikea so I just happened to be there yesterday for something else and found the cover for $4.99. They have various colours but I went for the grey (UK spelling!). Gurli cushion cover.

I used my awesome Silhouette machine and flocked heat transfer vinyl and my trusty ol' iron...

Nice and simple but marks his corner - I've left it in on the couch in the living room so it will be interesting to see if he notices it before Friday.

Have a happy day!

Gift bags and tags!

Hello everyone!

Today I've been trying to clean up some files on my computer and I found these free files (except the handbag file - that is from the Silhouette Store) ... so I decided to try them out ... by Shery K Designs.

I chose some paper from my 'small' (;-)) stash and prepared for cutting. Before sending to cut I noticed my page had some space so I quickly drew some tags to have on hand for future use (why waste pretty paper!).

I love the butterfly ones the best ... what do you think?
See you soon ~ Happy crafting ~ *Vicki*

General catch up!

Hello everyone,

Today my son went back to school for the month of July so I've been catching up on things at home and in my craft room!

So I was looking into printers recently and narrowed it down to two - Canon and Epson. I wanted something that printed my colours with some brightness and also offered large format so I'd have the option of printing 12x12 paper or slightly bigger. I kept comparing the two and always ended up choosing the Canon but needed something to convince me as they were pricey. When I saw the Canon on sale at $150 off the asking price I convinced my husband to buy it. :-). It is quite big but I managed to find a place for it.

I started working on my next project for 'The Hybrid Chick' blog and I'm very pleased with the printer, the colours look great even on matte paper ... can't wait to try it out on some photo paper soon.

My next Hybrid Chick project will be posted soon.

Enjoy your day, we have a beautiful sunny one in Toronto today!
Ciao, Vicki
